Unique Wedding Ideas Page 15 84. I decorated the tables at my reception with small evergreen trees. I dressed them up with mylar and ribbon and a poem. The poem asked people to plant the tree to help us celebrate our day. Simple to decorate and it also is good for the environment, plus now I have trees from my wedding. 85. I had the guests throw flower petals instead of bird seed. It
doesn't hurt as much and is biodegradable, as well as looking beautiful! 86.My new husband and I dismissed the guests ourselves. We had everyone remain in their seat until we came to their aisle. This way we got to talk to everyone without them having to stand in line. It was great and much quicker!! Mrs. Engles 87. My fiance and I are both Chinese-American and will be having
a Chinese Wedding Banquet in place of the regular wedding reception. We decided that, to help our American guests understand the traditions/activities that take place during the banquet, we would make programs for all the guests including a description of the activities and a brief history of them. We were actually inspired by a Jewish couple who were married and provided programs for their wedding, describing the Jewish traditions of the wedding ceremony.
Also, for the souvenirs, we wanted to give our guests something that they could really use (instead of just a keepsake), so we went to IKEA and bought 300 3" x 5" wooden frames at a really cheap price. We're decorating them in different designs (each table will have a different design) using paint and/or special paper (decoupage), and putting our wedding date and names on the back. We're using them as "place cards" by putting the
guests' names in the picture window and placing them on the tables. It's a lot of labor, but it'll be practical, personalized, and inexpensive. 88. My daughter and son-in-law were married in a garden wedding July 12, 1998. Guests were given envelopes prior to the ceremony. During the ceremony, Dawn and Bill exchanged their vows, turned to their guests and opened their envelopes, releasing butterflies into the garden. The guests then did the
same. It was quite lovely and took the place of rice, bubbles, or bird seed. Absolutely nothing harmful was dispersed, the butterflies took flight and soon alit on the flowers, pollinating and continuing the cycle of life. More Unique Wedding Ideas Next |
