33. I've noticed at wedding receptions that the younger guests are usually bored. So, for my wedding reception, I had a special "children's table" set up. There were balloons tied to every chair and "busy packets" at every place setting. The busy packets contained coloring books and crayons, small puzzles, activity books and blank paper. The kids were all together so they didn't have to listen to boring grown up conversation and
they had things to keep them busy. We made a point of visiting the table several times during the reception. It was a party for them and a great celebration for us!
34. After the traditional lighting of the unity candle (which we are planning to make ourselves, thanks to another person on this site's suggestion), the groom and I will then take our still-lit taper
candles down the aisle. Each guest will have received a white candle along with their program before the ceremony. I will start with the groom's parents, and the groom will start with mine, and we will each work our way down the aisle, lighting the candle of the first person in each pew. All the while, a couple will be performing "If you Say My Eyes Are Beautiful" (originally sung by Whitney Houston and Jermaine Jackson). Then the pastor will
explain that with the lighting of these candles, our families have truely been united with the light of our love, as well as God's love. 35. We are having a Christmas Wedding and plan to decorate Christmas ornaments with our name and the date as our favors. We will probably have a tree with the ornaments hanging, and ask the DJ to announce that the guests may take their favors before they leave. 36. At my best friends wedding {I was her maid of honor, and she will be mine-I'm very lucky she'll also be my sister-in-law}. When she went to cut the cake and feed it to each other, she had all of the bride's maids and groomsmen in line besides them {for picture reasons I was told}. Well they were about to feed each other the cake, she turned around and "tried" to push the cake in MY and the
Best man faces!!! Well I only hope to be able to repay her, needless to say! Wish me luck! 37. My fiance and I are both in the military stationed in Japan. Our wedding will be in the states in South Carolina. We're both from the south and want to leave our guests with a sotuhern token of thanks as well as introduce them to a small part of Japan. As
wedding favors we're using eleganly wrapped jars of peaches, and lace and ribbon-wrapped nuts (the true fruits of the south). These are fairly inexpensive since they grow here and some of our relatives pick and can peaches. Pecans are easy to find also (there's even a pecan tree in my parents front yard!). The jars will have labels on them and the bag of nuts will have our names and wedding date attached. Instead of guest sign-in books, we're
using what the Japanese call "Sayonara Dolls". It's a cute wooden doll with only a round painted head and a body covered with a fabric dress. This "dress" is secured with a cord and is actually a scroll! Guests will untie it roll it out and sign whatever they want (We're using about 10 for 300 people). They are not only practical but will make nice decorations in our new home together. 38. Sponsored Sick Kids Hospital: At our wedding we definitely wanted all our guest best wishes but also we wanted to do something special for those who could not be the part of our wedding but their best wishes would be in our spirits and remains forever in our heart. So we decided to sponsor "Sick Kids Hospital" and requests all our guests in the invitation card to make a donation to sick kids in lieu of wedding gifts. We had a box
available at the entrance of the banquet hall. Everyone was so amazed with this idea. Our guests not only fulfilled our wish but also they were really happy, generous and thoughtful to contribute..The "Thank You" letter we received from sick kids later, is part of our wedding album, as well as it's in our video. This is really a great treasure for us.. So folks those who are about to get married or will be getting married, this is something that you really want to think
and carry on with this great idea... Lots of love and best wishes from Sneh & VimalMore Unique Wedding Ideas Next |
